New BC Real Estate Association President and Board of Directors
Jim McCaughan to Lead Provincial Real Estate Organization
Vancouver, BC – May 1, 2012. The British Columbia Real Estate Association (BCREA) is pleased to announce that Jim McCaughan, an Abbotsford REALTOR® and former President of both the Fraser Valley and Chilliwack and District Real Estate Boards, has been elected as its 2012-2013 President.
"It is an honour to step into my role as BCREA President to help steer organized real estate in this time of impactful change and advancement of the profession," said McCaughan. "I look forward to dedicating my time to help communicating the value of working with a REALTOR® and the profession's commitment to Quality of Life in BC."
Jim McCaughan is a managing broker with Landmark Realty Corporation in Abbotsford. He has contributed extensively to the real estate industry as a BCREA Director, past Chair of the Real Estate Council of BC and past Chair of the Real Estate Errors and Omissions Insurance Corporation. With 35 years of experience as a licensed REALTOR® and 18 years as a BCREA course instructor, McCaughan looks forward to bringing his firsthand understanding of REALTOR® professionalism and commitment to their clients to his role as President.
Joining McCaughan as Officers of the Association are Vice President Jennifer Lynch of Coast Realty Group Ltd. on Gabriola Island, Past President Rick Valouche of TRG – The Residential Group Realty in Vancouver and Chief Executive Officer Robert Laing.
New Directors are Claudia Holland (Quesnel), James Palanio (Penticton), Rosario Setticasi (Vancouver) and Jim Stewart (Nanaimo). Returning as Directors are Barbara Gallie (Victoria), Jake Moldowan (Richmond), Kelvin Neufeld (Surrey), Dick Pemberton (Kamloops), Paul Penner (Abbotsford) and K. Scott Russell (Vancouver).
BCREA represents the 11 member real estate boards and their approximately 18,000 REALTORS® on all provincial issues, providing an extensive communications network, standard forms, government relations, economic research and analysis, applied practice courses and continuing professional education (cpe).
To demonstrate the profession's commitment to improving Quality of Life in BC communities, BCREA supports policies that help ensure economic vitality, provide housing opportunities, preserve the environment, protect property owners and build better communities with good schools and safe neighbourhoods.
