Contract Nightmares: How to Detect, Avoid, Disarm and Survive

6 PDP Credits – 3/4 day

Every contract is a ticking time bomb. This document contains the set of instructions that define the scope of the listing services, the product offerings, and the corresponding terms of the client relationship. If this contract is poorly drafted, a number of complications, frustrations, and problems can emerge before, during, and after the process, resulting in a contract nightmare. How you detect, avoid, disarm, and survive these nightmares is key to your success as a REALTOR®.

This course, Contract Nightmares: How to Detect, Avoid, Disarm and Survive is designed to eliminate this potential outcome, as REALTORS® assist buyers and sellers to achieve their real estate goals. The specific objective of this course is to identify and determine personal and situational shortfalls. These shortfalls could lead to contract issues, and finding ways of dealing with those issues if they arise.

By the end of this course, the learner will be able to:

  • become aware of your personal behaviours, strengths and weaknesses regarding contract writing;
  • identify where to access information to write an enforceable contract;
  • describe/define what actions to take when in a challenging contract situation; and
  • create a personal action plan for dealing with future contract challenges.
