Hotel Strata Lots, Leased Land, Cooperatives, and Other Forms of Real Estate

6 PDP Credits – 3/4 day

Does the structure of the development allow owners to have input into the rules and bylaws or are the rules and bylaws established by the council or directors? What ability is there for the management to enforce the rules and bylaws or levy fines? Do owners have any input into the assessment of fines? These are some of the questions buyers will need to ask when considering an investment in a shared interest development.

Hotel Strata Lots, Leased Land, Cooperatives, and Other Forms of Real Estate course will provide REALTORS® with an understanding of different forms of real estate development with examples of different projects and buyer considerations.

By the end of this course, the learner will be able to:

  • give a brief review of the features of subdivisions and strata developments;
  • review the relevant case law that is used to explain various issues that arise in relation to the approval for or operation of the various types of developments;
  • consider the legal and practical characteristics of shared interests in land, life leases, cooperatives and hotel strata developments
  • provide the information needed to compare and contrast features and characteristics of subdivisions and strata developments.
