Negotiating and Presenting Offers

6 PDP Credits – 3/4 day

All the effort, expense and time a REALTOR® invests in real estate merges to the point of the offer presentation. A successful outcome translates into a happy client, the possibility of referral business, and financial compensation. Failure results in disappointment and escalation of expenses.

The Negotiating and Presenting Offers course helps REALTORS® prepare themselves and their clients for the offer presentation. Successful techniques for presenting the offer to minimize confusion and maximize agreement are covered. Recommendations on how to work with clients and move them to a successful outcome are reviewed. This course incorporates applicable sections from the Professional Standards Manual, changes brought on by the Real Estate Services Act, and any new changes implemented by the local real estate board's practice guidelines.

By the end of this course, the learner will be able to:

  • prepare buyers, sellers, and yourself to bring about a higher probability of an acceptable contract with all parties;
  • understand how applicable sections of the Real Estate Council of British Columbia's Professional Standards Manual, Real Estate Services Act, and the local real estate boards' practice guidelines dictate a REALTOR®'s actions and responsibilities;
  • understand and feel more comfortable in the role of the listing and selling representative in the presentation of an offer;
  • work more effectively with different personality types;
  • develop tools to bring about acceptance of price and terms in a contract of purchase and sale;
  • avoid common mistakes and handle objections with ease; and
  • understand how to handle the often-difficult process of the presentation of multiple offers and the revocation of a contract.
