Real Estate E&O Insurance Legal Update 2016 (Online Version)

The Real Estate E&O Insurance Legal Update 2016 is the real estate trading services profession's annual opportunity to stay current with recent developments in real estate law and regulation. Designed primarily for trading services licensees, the course addresses new developments in the ever-changing legal environment in which licensees practice. Divided into individual modules, this year's course emphasizes developments important to licensees.

Moving in to its 22nd year of production, Legal Update continues to strive to provide valuable and timely updates of legal and regulatory compliance, as well as key reminders of best practice for licensees in the province. For 2016, our course writers tackle both new and recurring themes by providing a great set of court cases, Council consent orders, and risk mitigation tips for licensees to remember and incorporate into their daily practice.

By the end of this course, the learner will be able to:

Topics for 2016 include:

  • credibility issues;
  • issues of limited dual agency;
  • property disclosure statements;
  • authorization to complete real estate transactions;
  • title searches;
  • strata - sections;
  • parking stalls and storage lockers;
  • rental property disclosure statements;
  • issues with commission; and
  • "on the radar" professional and legislative updates from 2015.

This course may be completed at the student's own pace by reading online course materials, viewing online video presentations and successfully completing eight short assignments. The only time limitation is a requirement that the assignments be completed within 12 months of registration in the course; note however, that the course must be completed prior to licence expiry date in order to satisfy PDP and/or REP requirements.
